The difficult part of living during a seachange in technology is in knowing what you are actually seeing. Every great leap forward has had its forshadowing steeped in discontentment, dismissal, and even derision. Certainly that was the case when the Printing Press began, and although it eventually changed everything in the world it didn't start out that way. I doubt that cutting the cord on cable television is as significant to society - but it is a part of something that could be. Availability of content and information globally is significant, especially given that anyone on the planet (that isn't currently living in a country that filters such access) can personally access most any type of information - and watch a growing selection of video - immediately with Internet access. I suppose it will actually be The Internet which is credited for whatever good (and bad) comes out of this.

From a society perspective down to a more personal approach - certainly changing your television watching habits from cable or satellite is not quite ready for prime time just yet... but it is now very close. Global expansion is happening with providers like Netflix aggressively opening up access to new countries this month. Frustration? Yes, also happening. Just last Sunday night Netflix seemed to be down for AppleTV users - which makes a huge impact when you are looking to watch something! Perhaps with more competition in this space the availability and quality will continue to strengthen - at which point it certainly will be ready for prime time.

Hope that addresses your question!

Interesting point of view. Wondering what you think of it’s implication on society as a whole though? There are times when things like this begin to have global expansion and frustration. I’ll check back to see what you have to say.
